Direct Current Quadrupole Armature

The Direct Current Quadrupole Armature is the drive unit behind our translational force systems. A direct current motor turns a cooling-finned armature inside a four-pole (quadrupole) stator wall, and the finning keeps the coils inside the armature from overheating during sustained runs.

The stator wall's four poles are arranged so that the magnetic force on the armature stays consistent through a full rotation, which is what lets us pair two of these units — one clockwise, one counter-clockwise — and keep their eccentric mass loads timed against each other.

This design is covered under U.S. Patent No. 5,150,626, and it is the mechanical basis for the 4-Phase Motor Generator Device used across our other eccentric mass load prototypes.
